Continuing education – at the heart of it all

Charleville130317Charters Towers – Dr Karam Kostner reports that he was thrilled to have “so many doctors” from the Gold City Medical Centre attend his special session about new and interesting cardiology cases.

Charleville – Heart of Australia resident specialist Dr Robert Perel met GPs from the RFDS Charleville, SWHHS Charleville Health Clinic and CWAATSICH at the local RSL to discuss “Diagnosis and Management of Coronary Artery Disease”. Thanks to all who took part. MerrynThomae

And still in Charleville – Heart of Australia endocrinologist Dr Merryn Thomae provided Doctors at the Charleville Hospital with an education session on the topic of “Hypomagnesemia”, covering causes, investigation and treatment for the condition.

Dr Thomae joined the Heart of Australia team in late 2016 and her areas of special interest include complex chronic illness presentations; diagnostic dilemmas; General and Acute Care Medicine presentations; diabetes mellitus; polycystic ovarian syndrome; osteoporosis; thyroid disease and General Endocrinology. 

Good to be with Goondir for Closing the Gap

CTG170317All of us at Heart of Australia welcomed an invitation to Goondir’s Closing the Gap Day Event in Dalby, alongside local Allied Health Services and partners.

It is the vision of our friends at Goondir Health Services to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by providing holistic health care and medical services.

As our Dr Rolf Gomes says: “We are very proud of our ties to the team at Goondir who support the care pathway for Heart of Australia’s indigenous patients across south-western Queensland”.
