Heart of Australia brings specialist services to rural communities on four custom-designed clinic-on-wheels, two are driven by a Kenworth K200 prime mover, one by a DAF XF 530 prime mover and our third clinic is an Isuzu FSD260.
The purpose-built, self-sufficient trailers provide several private clinic rooms, a testing room and a reception area for patients. It is wheelchair accessible and fully-air-conditioned for comfort.
The first 18-wheel semi-trailer mobile clinic for Heart of Australia that Dr Gomes personally-designed was launched on the 3rd of October 2014 after six years of planning and construction. It has welcomed more than 5000 GP-referred patients on its 8000km monthly visits to 13 bush communities throughout southwest and central Queensland. Rolf is proud of the evidence that Heart of Australia has so far saved more than 250 lives of rural Australians by diagnosing patients with previously undetected, critical cardiac conditions.
The second even bigger semi-trailer mobile clinic saw its first patient in Dalby on the 26th of September 2018 and is now a part of a growing fleet of state of the art, custom designed and constructed high-tech mobile medical clinics offering a wide variety of Specialist Services to outback and rural QLD communities. With the addition of the second truck, Heart of Australia was able to add even more townships to its routes.
Our HEART 3 truck, a smaller mobile medical clinic affectionately referred to by all of us in the Team as the “Baby Truck”. HEART 3 is a customised and purpose built Isuzu F-Series FSD260 truck. Although smaller than HEART 1 & HEART 2, it is by no means any less impressive or advanced. HEART 3 is set up to be able to do anything that HEART 1 and HEART 2 can do with the added bonus of being specialised for our new Gynaecological services. The new mini mobile clinic was created using an innovative design to condense consulting rooms and state-of-the-art equipment into a 12-metre long mobile clinic. HEART 3’s purpose is to be our Community, Events and overflow Clinic, assisting the other 2 trucks when needed but also attending other Communities and Events throughout QLD.
Our latest addition to the fleet, HEART 4, is a 34-wheel custom-built B Double road train. Servicing our new Northern Route, HEART 4 will bring welcome relief to communities in need of specialist medical care.
